Jean has two grown daughters. Karen has two grown
stepchildren, although the “step” isn’t necessary. I have four children ages
15, 12, 9, and 8.
A major part of our identity revolves around being moms. It
has helped shape our views and beliefs, especially that every life is a precious gift from God
- whether planned or not.
Motherhood has helped each of us grow. It has helped each of us gain
a stronger relationship with God - there are days when the only reason any of
us survive is by His grace; there are days when He uses our children to teach
us something; there are days when He uses our children to make us laugh; there
are days when He uses our children to show us His face and tell us, “Well done,
good and faithful servant.” (Matthew
25:21)
The role of Mom is the most challenging job a woman can
accept. It is a 24/7/365 assignment for the rest of your life. But, the role of Mom is also the most rewarding job a woman
can accept. Even though there are challenging days with bickering, heartache,
bumps and bruises, there are days of joy that completely overshadow those
events.
Motherhood may not always be in our plans, but it may be
something in His plan. And, if we follow His plan, the grace will be there. If
we follow His plan, the blessings will come.
We wish all mom’s a very Happy Mother’s Day!
